Outcome and Evaluation Study

For the past five years, The Catholic Big Sisters and Big Brothers has conducted a rigorous and independent program evaluation consisting of over 1000 surveys. Initially funded by The Altman Foundation, the results continue to support the unique effectiveness of the wrap-around service model for mentoring youth.

The study substantiates that girls, boys and families participating in CBSBB programs have significantly higher improvement rates than those in similar programs nationwide due to involvement in supportive services which include mentoring, counseling and skill based programs.

This comprehensive, family systems approach results in longer periods of participation for both the youth and families that we serve, resulting in

significant increases in self-esteem, improved family/peer relationships, reduction in violence, increased gender equality and improved academic performance.
