Planned Giving

Since the 1900's, generations of women and men have provided exemplary service to The Catholic Big Sisters and Big Brothers, an agency that changes the lives of immigrant families through mentoring, counseling and skill-based educational programs designed to break cycles of poverty and disempowerment. Since both organization's inception, CBSBB has served a population of mainly first-generation Americans. We continue doing so to this day, but the necessary services and programs that we provide to allow girls and boys and their families to become part of the American fabric have become both more complex and more expensive!

A strong family commitment is woven throughout the fabric of The Catholic Big Sisters and Brothers. Our success would be impossible without the families who have led, guided and molded the agency -- multi-generational philanthropists passing the torch from mother to daughter to grandson. Today, we can correlate our progress to the generational wisdom of these families who have provided a combination of superb governance and financial support to CBS - both personally and by allowing entree to friends, colleagues and their network of contacts within the foundation and corporate worlds. Philanthropy is defined as "the love of humankind". The families who have nurtured The Catholic Big Sisters and Brothers during the past century are philanthropists in the finest sense of the word!

Now in order to secure the future of the agency - and of the girls and boys who need us - we must expand our fundraising efforts to include major and planned gifts to build an endowment that guarantees long-term financial stability. CBS Foundress, Lady Armstrong, recognized the need to help at-risk girls and boys seeking a better lives for themselves. We invite you to join us as we continue her mission by becoming a Charter Member of The Lady Armstrong Society, a group of leadership donors committed to The Catholic Big Sisters and Brothers in the twenty-first century and beyond. Charter Members will be recognized as such in agency publications and will receive a Lady Armstrong medallion, especially created for this group of special donors.

To explore the possibility of becoming a Charter Member of The Lady Armstrong Society we request that you call Emily Forhman, Executive Director , at 212-475-3291 ext. 200 to discuss provisions for The Catholic Big Sisters and Brothers in your estate plans. We thank you for considering this membership both personally and on behalf of the families who will be the ultimate beneficiaries of your magnificent, life-affirming generosity.
